LBC Relief Information: How You Can Help

Financial Aid:

We are accepting financial aid to the Katrina Relief Fund. These funds will be directed and used only for Katrina Relief. You can find information about this fund on www.lbc.org

Transportation:

We need information on how to contact you, church and home phone, an email or cell phone, and the capacity of your bus. The need for transportation will continue for many weeks and we need to be able to contact those who can transport evacuees. Please feel free to contact us to follow up by calling 1.877.487 4658.

Volunteers:

Volunteers will be needed over the next three months in response to Hurricane Katrina for mud out teams, construction and labor, and cleanup . Please give us the dates you can be available to help and we will provide you with training and opportunities. To give us this information call 1.877.487.4658.

Housing:

We are making a list of housing offers; at this time the process of placing people in housing is not resolved. The need for housing is obvious, but there is no placement being done at this time. If and when this happens, we will be ready. Please provide us with information and dates of availability of the housing you have, so that we can match needs with offers, and we may be in touch with you. Partner Churches:

We are enlisting and coordinating churches to partner with damaged or destroyed churches in Louisiana. Your willingness to help will be a great service. Please provide us with contact information for your church, and the extent of the help you can provide, and we will respond as soon as possible to connect you with a church to which you can partner.

Medical Assistance:

The Governor’s Office has given this information: At this time, 5 Sept, immediate medical needs are being met with available personnel, and evacuees are being transported to many locations. We do need to keep your name and contact information in order to be able to reach you as needs arise. This situation

Food and Supplies:

Thank you for your offer to help. We are needing and will continue to need many things for the next several months. We are asking people to get their load together, sort if possible, palette, and shrink wrapped. Contact us at 1 877 487 4658 to let us know what you are going to collect. After it is collected, we will be able to direct the shipment to the proper location. You may be directed to a warehouse for distribution or directly to a site. Fuel is available in most of Louisiana, though it is expensive. At this time please do not send clothes as our organization is unable to handle them. Water, food, medical supplies, sleeping bags, and air mattresses are badly needed at this time. A list of needed medical supplies can be found at www.lbc.org.
